SPATIAL DESIGN
NATOMA
Starting from the vision of a San Francisco Law Firm, the Natoma project was conceived as a contemporary legal workspace that redefines the traditional office environment. The design balances professionalism with warmth, creating a space that feels both efficient and approachable.
Set within a private alley in San Francisco’s SOMA district, the project responds to a ground-floor condition with limited exposure and a shared entrance. This context informed a clear and intentional sequence, transitioning from the exterior into a calm, cohesive interior that prioritizes clarity, privacy, and comfort.
The layout establishes a careful balance between public and private functions. A reception area sets the tone, while a series of private offices and a flexible open workspace support focused work and collaboration. Supporting areas, including storage, restrooms, and a coffee station, are seamlessly integrated, allowing the space to remain open and highly functional.
Materiality draws from a mid-century inspired palette of wood, metal, and glass, introducing warmth and texture while maintaining a refined, professional character. Lighting and acoustic strategies further enhance comfort and confidentiality throughout the space.
